Grand Seiko Unveils The Tokyo Lion Tentagraph
In 2019, Grand Seiko unveiled a sports watch that roared with the spirit of the lion—an emblem of strength and courage that has symbolized the brand since 1960. Now, at Watches & Wonders 2025, the lion returns with renewed majesty in the Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, a timepiece that fuses architectural boldness with cutting-edge mechanical mastery.
The case, carved from Brilliant Hard Titanium—lighter and brighter than traditional titanium yet twice as hard as steel—presents razor-sharp facets that recall the lion’s claws. Each angle, alternating between hairline and Zaratsu-polished finishes, reflects the unrivalled skill of Grand Seiko’s artisans.
The dial evokes the lion’s mane, a dynamic pattern alive with movement, while three-dimensional sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock heighten legibility and depth. Redesigned pushers elevate the tactile experience, each press resonating with precision. On the wrist, a newly engineered rubber strap—2.7 times stronger than standard silicone—ensures durability and comfort. Hidden on its underside, a lion’s paw motif adds a secret touch of whimsy, visible only to the wearer.
At its heart beats the Tentagraph movement, a 10-beat mechanical chronograph that pulses with power and accuracy. Offering a remarkable 72-hour power reserve—even with the chronograph engaged—it stands as the longest-running high-frequency chronograph in the industry.
With the Tokyo Lion Tentagraph, Grand Seiko doesn’t just honor its emblem—it reimagines it for a new generation, where precision meets ferocity in a symphony of titanium, power, and pride.
