Since 1969, the DEFY collection has embodied resilience and radical design, earning its reputation as the “time safe” for its vault-like durability. Among its icons was the DEFY Diver A3648, a professional-grade instrument that captured an era of fearless exploration. Now, Zenith rekindles that spirit with the DEFY Revival Diver—an evocative re-creation that brings vintage allure into the modern age.
Housed in a faceted 37mm micro-blasted titanium case, the DEFY Revival Diver stays true to its ancestor’s angular geometry and signature fourteen-sided bezel, while refining it with contemporary materials. A unidirectional rotating bezel, crowned with a yellow-tinted sapphire insert, offers an irresistible splash of retro vibrancy, evoking the daring character of the original Plongeur.
The matte black dial carries the house’s timeless black-and-yellow codes, with Super-LumiNova–filled hands and hour markers ensuring luminous clarity even at 600 meters below sea level. In a poetic nod to 1969—the year DEFY was born—the watch delivers 600 meters of water resistance, reaffirming its tool-watch pedigree. At 4:30, the screw-down crown sits with quirky originality, just as it did decades ago.
Beneath the surface, the automatic Elite 670 calibre powers the timepiece, offering a 50-hour reserve and visible through a rare exhibition caseback—a striking flourish for a diver of such technical capability. The skeletonized star-shaped rotor adds a touch of contemporary finesse to the heritage-driven construction.
Completing the revival is a Gay Frères–style titanium bracelet, micro-blasted for a seamless match with the case, ensuring comfort and understated elegance on the wrist. Priced at CHF 7,900, the DEFY Revival Diver is more than a watch—it is Zenith’s tribute to history’s boldest designs, reimagined for modern visionaries.
