Breguet Classique Répétition Minute 7637 - showcase of Grand feu enamelling
By SENATUS Magazine | 30 August 2023

Contrary to appearances, the minimalist dial of the new Classique Répétition Minute 7637 requires a particular craft that few artisans still practise today: the "Grand feu" enamelling technique...

Representing a mixture of silica and ground oxides, the coloured powders are dissolved in water before being applied to the dial using a variety of methods. The secret then lies in the firing process. Each layer and colour applied requires an additional firing at a set temperature of over 800 degrees Celsius and for a carefully programmed time.

Possessing a grand complication with a minute repeater function which uses an invention by Louis Abraham Breguet in 1783. Breguet created the first striking repeating watch operated by a gong spring rather than a bell, which continues to be used 240 years later.

Available in rose gold and in white gold with silvered gold dial, engine-turned by hand, with 24-hour display and double seconds, as well as in white gold with blue “grand feu” enamel dial with Breguet Arabic numerals and secret signature.
