Dior Fall 2016 at Haute Couture Week
By Haute Couture Week | 5 July 2016

Amidst the pomp and frivolity of Haute Couture Week, Dior unveiled a sophisticated and glamorous ode to the beautifully simplistic combination of black and white in Paris on Monday.

In the continued absence of a new creative director, designers Lucie Meyer and Serge Ruffieux unveiled their fourth joint collection for the French house, which took place at its Haute Couture salon on Avenue Montaigne.

The collection focused on voluptuous but sharp silhouettes, pairing ruffled ponchos with skinny cigarette pants and structured oversized blazers with sheer tulle skirts. Puffball sleeves, billowing skirts and frothy trains provided escapism while cropped tops and column dresses offered a minimalistic contrast.

The stark black and white palette remained constant throughout, adorned with the occasional jolt of silver or gold embroidery, but the limited colors drew the focus to the clever contrasting of fabrics to create depth and variety. In keeping with the general juxtaposed theme of the show, the garments were uniformly paired with flat lace-up sandals.
