For the Fall/Winter 2016/2017 season, Marchesa looked for inspiration from the late American portrait painter John Singer Sargent. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig sought to capture the "the ultra-feminine strength” of the women that Sargent painted, with sleek, fitted silhouettes as well as princess-style gowns, several featuring lace and intricate beading, brocades and silk flowers.
