David Beckham Contributes to Marina Bay Sands Charity Auction
By SENATUS News | 14 June 2014

David Beckham was in Singapore on Saturday 13 June at Marina Bay Sands to contribute to the resort's ‘Celebrities Give Back to Singapore’ initiative, autographing a pair of pink/white Adidas predator boots that the former footballer will contribute to an auction to raise funds for charity. Notable on the cleated footwear were the names of his children as well as the number "32" which he retired with after playing for Paris St. Germain.

“We are honoured to have the support of David Beckham for our annual Sands for Singapore festival once again. Last year’s inaugural Sands for Singapore Festival helped raise over $3.6 million and we hope to do even better this year.” said Mr. George Tanasijevich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marina Bay Sands.

The proceedings for the day kicked off with a video about Beckham's career as a footballer, with the former England captain then capping it off with a motivational speech about the importance of team work and passion. He also then conducted an exclusive football clinic for 90 participants who included underprivileged youth, youth-at-risk and people with different disabilities, ranging from cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and hearing impairment.

Beckham joins his wife Victoria, Eva Longoria with Italian jeweler Damiani, Jamie Foxx, Jackie Chan, Kpop star Rain, sportsmen Rio Ferdinand and Manny Pacquiao in participating in the 'Sands for Singapore' charity drive. To participate in the auction, go to http://senat.us/SandsforSingapore
