Hermès International to Open Shang Xia in Paris
By SENATUS News | 10 September 2013

On 12 September, Hermès International will open its first French store of its Chinese subsidiary, Shang Xia, in Paris’s Saint-Germain-des-Près neighborhood-- the label draws inspiration from the traditions and contemporary lifestyle trends of China, with collections made from bamboo, Mongolian cashmere and even Chinese eggshell porcelain.

Shang Xia has operated solely in China, where it has two stores, one in Beijing and one in Shanghai. The new Paris store will be the brand’s first abroad, occupying a 70 square meter space located at 8 Rue de Sèvres (6th arrondissement). Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed the retail space which will feature objets d’art, clothes and jewelry made from traditional Chinese materials.
